MCTM Members - Summer State Math Conference

Dear MCTM Member,
 
With cutbacks in school/district professional development monies, many more teachers are paying for PD opportunities from their own funds. The MCTM Scholarship Committee is excited to offer for a second year an opportunity to MCTM members: $500 Teacher Conference Scholarships to attend the MCTM Annual Institute and Conference! 
 
Any teachers who is an MCTM member is eligible to receive the scholarship except for current MCTM Board Members.  Scholarship applications and guidelines are available on the MCTM website at (https://www.mictm.org/index.php/scholarships/teacher-conference).   Applications are due by close of business on May 2, 2017, with recipients notified by May 20, 2017. Up to six (6) $500 scholarships will be awarded.
 
The application is made up of an information form as well as a brief, typed proposal (two pages maximum), a letter of support that describes your role in mathematics education (preferable from your current administrator), and confirmation that you are a current member.  Details are available at the link above.
 
Applications are due no later than May 2, 2017 and are to be emailed with attachments to info@mictm.org.

MSTA Mini-Grants - Deadline is June 30th

It's time to apply for MSTA mini-grants!
  • The Michigan Science Teachers Association will award up to $1000 in mini-grants to selected members. You must be a current member to apply.
  • Grant applications should be submitted electronically through Google forms using the link provided below.
  • The grant deadline is June 30, 2017.
  • Award winners will be notified by September, 2017.
  • Projects MUST be completed by June 9, 2018.
  • As part of the Grant process, award winners are required to write a narrative of their project to be published in the MSTA Newsletter or Journal.

Attached is a second opportunity in Michigan's Upper Peninsula for adult individuals or families together this summer.  Please share, or check it out for yourself, with anyone who may be interested in spending a week camping on Isle Royale.  The experience is led by two knowledge field guides and long-time educators; no camping equipment or experience required.
